STORIES OF COMFORT

As a practitioner whose working toward making the world a little better and a little happier, stories of comfort zines aims to allow readers to revisit their place of comfort. It can be in any form such as places, things, etc, as everyone has their own perception and idea of comfort in their lives. It is to show that even on our busiest and toughest days, there is something, or somewhere that we can go to whenever we need some comfort or to spark some bits of joy in us.

THE SPIRIT OF MALAYSIAN TAUKES

This was a competition brief organised by RYSE where designers were required to design postcards for Taukes of their choice. The aim is to create meaningful postcard designs that can celebrate and reflect the spirit of Malaysian Taukes to invoke the interest of the audience to learn more about the Tauke.
The Tauke that I have chosen is Najwa also known as yarnbynajwa. She is a small entrepreneur based in Langkawi that just started not long ago during the MCO period. She sells hand-dyed yarns that she dyes herself at her home on Instagram. The unique colours of her yarns captured my attention at first, and I got even more inspired to design a postcard about her after listening to her Tauke talks where she shares her journey and struggles she has faced. The main reason she is passionate about starting her business is that she wants locals to have access to beautiful yarns without having to pay a costly international shipping fee. Her passion and bravery to leave her full time job to fully pursue what she loves doing really inspired me.
